Mpwapwa is one of the two districts in Dodoma region which practicing fishing activities. Fishing is not an economic activity rather than merely for domestic consumption. However, fingerlings mainly Tilapia species are the main fish type available. Fishing activities usually undertaken in Mtera dam in Rudi ward. Wetlands in Mlunduzi ward are also potential for pond and fishery. Nevertheless, fish shortage in the district is supplemented by imported fish from Dar es Salaam.
